Maddy and Phil had the most gorgeous rustic barn wedding at Cogges Manor Farm in Witney, Oxfordshire, a historic countryside wedding venue famously known as the filming location for Downton Abbey (I love this show!). Their day was the perfect mix of country stone wall vibes, beautiful styling and the cutest goats you have ever seen, making the most of everything this stunning Oxfordshire wedding venue has to offer.
From the rural gorgeous barns to the stunning walled gardens, a Cogges Manor Farm wedding is an absolute dream to photograph and Maddy and Phil’s day was no exception. I absolutely loved it.

🌾 About Cogges Manor Farm Wedding Venue
Located in Witney, in the heart of Oxfordshire, Cogges Manor Farm is a truly unique rustic wedding venue with over a thousand years of history. With its beautifully preserved manor house, traditional Cotswold stone barns and expansive 17-acre grounds, it offers an incredible setting for couples looking for a relaxed, countryside wedding. The venue is best known for its charming barn spaces, including the Wheat and Barley barns, which can be used for both ceremonies and receptions. Couples also have access to stunning outdoor spaces including the walled garden, orchard and meadows - all perfect backdrops for natural, romantic wedding photography. [cogges.org.uk]

As a dry-hire venue, Cogges Manor Farm gives couples complete freedom to bring their own vision to life, making every wedding here completely unique.
The wonderful staff make the whole experience so comfortable. From the moment I met Luke, Guy, Paris, Sophie and Kirsty I felt at ease, they were kind and helpful and there wasn’t anything they wouldn’t do to help make the wedding couple’s day special and to help get those lasting photographic memories.

💛 A Relaxed and Joyful Wedding Day
Maddy and Phil’s wedding day felt effortlessly relaxed from start to finish. The morning preparations were filled with excitement and laughter, setting the tone for what would be a beautiful celebration surrounded by their closest friends and family. As I walked up the stairs at The Blue Boar, Witney (acornpubs.co.uk/blueboar) I heard an awesome rendition from the High School Musical soundtrack sung by the Bride and Bridesmaids who are all musically gifted and studied music at university. I loved it!

Their ceremony took place in the barn, where the rustic textures and soft light created such an intimate and romantic atmosphere. One of the things I love most about a Cogges Manor Farm wedding is how the space feels both grand and cosy at the same time, and it worked perfectly for their ceremony.

Following the “I do’s”, guests spilled out into the courtyard and gardens, where drinks, sunshine and plenty of laughter filled the air. It’s these in-between moments that really bring a wedding to life with chatter and excitement and Cogges provides endless opportunities for them.

The guests then lined up to throw confetti over the Bride and Groom as they exited out of the Wheat Barn to be showered with petals and cheer.

📸 Why Cogges Manor Farm is Perfect for Wedding Photography
As an Oxfordshire wedding photographer, Cogges Manor Farm is one of those venues that truly has everything.
Beautiful light in the barns for ceremonies and receptions
Huge variety of backdrops – from rustic barns to elegant gardens
Open meadow views for relaxed, natural portraits
Unique features like farm animals and historic buildings and beautiful stone steps

The flexibility of the venue also means you can move seamlessly between indoor and outdoor spaces, which is ideal whatever the British weather throws at you.
Golden hour at Cogges is an incredible highlight. As the sun drops the whole venue is bathed in warm, soft light – perfect for those relaxed couple portraits that don’t feel staged or rushed.

The weather on Maddy and Phil’s big day was perfect; for a late-April wedding the sun shone and the skies were the bluest I have seen them. Sunblock was required for all!
🌿 Couple Portraits in the Oxfordshire Countryside
We took advantage of the beautiful grounds at Cogges Manor Farm for Maddy and Phil’s couple portraits, wandering through the gardens and out towards the surrounding meadows and in the goat pen.
The relaxed nature of the venue means there’s no pressure or strict timelines, which allows for those genuine, natural moments to shine through. Maddy and Phil were completely in their element, and it shows in every frame. The joy on their faces when surrounded by the gorgeous goats was a pleasure to see.
🥂 A Barn Reception Full of Atmosphere
The reception space was styled beautifully, embracing the rustic character of the barn while adding soft, personal touches and wildflowers that reflected Maddy and Phil perfectly.

As the evening went on, the atmosphere shifted into celebration mode, with great speeches, lots of laughter and a packed dance floor to the band Jumpstart. Barn weddings always have such an incredible energy, and this one was no different.
